Miguel's Concina y Cantina

Located in the Silo Point Development in the Locust Point area of Baltimore, Miguel's Cocina y Cantina opened at the end of 2009, bringing authentic Mexican cuisine, ambiance and decor to the city. The vision of the restaurant is to focus on the true Mexican experience, as experienced by owner Michael Marx during his time living and eating there.

To accomplish this, the overarching themes for Miguel's include Tequila (and the communities that make it) as well as the Day of the Dead celebration (represented throughout in graphics). Finally, the entire experience is set in a space decorated to resemble a small town main street somewhere in Mexico.

Much More Than Web Design

Michael originally approached ignition72 for the restaurant's website but after discussing his desire to design and create a brand for the restaurant, we embarked on the task together, with Gary King, becoming partners in creating an experience for the diners.

Each element was handcrafted, from the 120 x 85 foot banner depicting El Día de los Muertos above the bar to the labels on their jars of salsa. Michael took care of the food on menu, collaborating with ignition72 on the design and layout of both their dining room menu, as well as the catering menu.

Neither company thought this project would grow to what it became, but in the end, Miguel's became the fun, exciting, Mexican main street it set out to be and ignition72 had fun helping creating it.

Muttles

Imagine if Beanie Babies came with a social network -- that's what Muttles set out to create.
Muttles are adorable little plush doggies, created by Gail Tilden, former VP of Nintendo of America. Inspired by the cross-bred names such as Labradoodle, the company created a line of lovable collectibles and wanted a social "petwork" to go with them. Each toy comes with a unique code to register the pet online.

The Challenge

Building a social network for minors, without any possible way for them to share personal information, was the biggest issue; having it be fun and entertaining was the second challenge.

Keeping It Simple

Each registrant chooses names from a predefined list of names and fictional locations, e.g. "New Bark City"; "Hollywoof"; and "St. Petersbark". The password takes on a MadLibs approach, where the user creates a sentence with [noun] [verb] the [adjective] [noun] in order to create their password. Additionally, provisions and parental settings were also added to comply with all child online protection laws.

The Fun Stuff

Once a user is registered and logs in, they have a plethora of entertaining interactions to choose from. Each user has the ability to give gifts to other users, play four games and dress up the picture of their Muttle. Muttles and ignition72 created a fun, safe environment on the web for children to interact and play.

Recognizing the power of small businesses with big ideas, Performance Sports Brands, Inc. helps patent and market inventions using direct-to-the-consumer advertising campaigns, combining video, print and online media. Although currently focusing on golf, they are expanding to new sports and markets.

Work in Full Swing

As the demand for online stores began to grow, PSBI wanted add web stores for their products. They approached our partner, AT Integrated, looking to reach their already growing audience and provide an alternative to the telesales model they have relied on for many years. Combining the e-commerce knowledge of AT Integrated and ignition72's in-house design, together we have built full-featured websites; brochures for print; direct mail and email marketing campaigns; and a stupendous trade-show booth.
